The Science of Hadith; the scholarly discipline dedicated to the study of the sayings, actions, approvals, and tacit endorsements of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is a vast, rigorous field of Islamic scholarship that encompasses the collection, verification, authentication, compilation, transmission, and interpretation of Hadith, which, after the Quran, constitute the second primary source of Islamic law, theology, ethics, and guidance.
