The Walima feast; a ceremonial banquet and public feast hosted by the groom's family after a marriage is consummated. In Islamic tradition, it is a highly recommended (Sunnah) act that serves to announce the marriage publicly, celebrate the union, foster community bonds, and express gratitude to God. It is the second of the two major traditional marriage ceremonies, following the Nikah (the official marriage contract).
